Finite-temperature quantum field theories are formulated in terms of Green’s functions and selfenergies on the Matsubara axis. In multi-orbital systems, these quantities are related to positive semidefinite matrix-valued functions of the Carathéodory and Schur class. Analysis, interpretation and evaluation of derived quantities such as real-frequency response functions requires analytic continuation of the off-diagonal elements to the real axis. We derive the criteria under which such functions…

A new analytic continuation method to extract real frequency spectral functions from imaginary frequency Green's functions of quantum many-body systems is proposed, based on the pole representation of Matsubara Green's function and a stochastic sampling procedure is utilized to optimize the amplitudes and locations of poles.

This manuscript presents a superconvergent algorithm for solving the real-time equilibrium Dyson equation using the Legendre spectral method and the recursive algorithm for Legendre convolution and shows that the compact high order discretization in combination with the Dyson solver enables long-time simulations using far fewer discretized points than needed in conventional multistep methods.

It is argued that Hankel projections should be used whenever finite-temperature imaginary-time data of response functions with errors is analyzed, be it in the context of quantum Monte Carlo, quantum computing, or in approximate semianalytic methodologies.

The self-consistent Green's function is obtained from a conserving self-energy approximation, which implies that the observables calculated from the Green's functions agree with the macroscopic conservation laws for particle number, momentum, and energy.
